Lawro Predicts - Latics v Chelsea

Former Liverpool defender and current Match of the Day pundit Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson has done his weekly round of predictions for the BBC and he is predicting that the game between Wigan Athletic and Chelsea tomorrow (Saturday) at the DW Stadium will end in an away win for Chelsea, let`s see what his reasons are:

Wigan v Chelsea

Wigan were shambolic last weekend, losing 4-0 at home to Blackpool. The Premier League season started with me saying there are no easy games in the top flight but I may have to change that view after that display from Roberto Martinez's side. They were one of my tips to get relegated and they will get torn apart by teams if they don't improve.

Chelsea, who began the defence of their title with a 6-0 demolition of West Brom, will be too strong in every department for Wigan. The first half a dozen games do not strike me as the most taxing for Carlo Ancelotti's side, so it looks like they can ease themselves into the season. A comfortable win for the champions.

Prediction: 0-2

Well Lawro I hope you are wrong, not only about the result but also about the ease that you are suggesting Chelsea will have in obtaining the win. I am going for a good response to last weeks efforts from the Latics and though I don`t see us winning I`ll stick my neck out for a 2-2 draw.

I hope we get a good response from the players

The players we have need to start playing as a team. But I hope we drop Krkland, and play Al-Habsi, or we'll see another 9-0

We'll probably see Kirky in goal for this one, but if he makes a fool of himself again, then it is time for Al-habsi to get his chance.. I don't think it will be a good idea with a rather unexperienced keeper against Chelsea. We could end up with two keepers without belief in themselves if Al-habsi gets 5 or 6 past him..
