Teale Has Operation

Wigan Athletic`s Scottish international winger Gary Teale has had an operation on his right ankle which had been bothering him all season, but should be fit for pre-season training.

He has now returned to the Christopher Park training ground to work on his fitness before pre-season training starts.

Teale told the Wigan Evening Post: 'I started feeling the injury last year when we were away in Denmark for pre-season training.

'It was a wee bit of wear and tear really, a case of getting through the season, but it was getting sore towards the end when I was with the Scotland squad in Japan.

'I had the operation two weeks ago and they found it was a bit of bone rubbing between the ankle joint and the tendon.
'The operation was just a clean-out, nothing too serious, but the surgeon who did it said he was glad to have caught it when he did.

'The way the injury was going, it would have only have got worse and done more damage.

'I was in a plaster cast after the operation for a little while and now I've got a lighter, removable cast on for two weeks.

'I'm coming in at the moment to do the rehabilitation, work on the weights, and that might build me up a bit!

'I'll start swimming in the pool soon, do some running in the water too, and I've got plenty of time to recover before July 6, when training starts."
