Latics Turn Down Latest N'Zogbia Bid

Wigan Athletic have turned down Birmingham City`s latest offer for Charles N`Zogbia, believed to be in the region of £9 million with Dave Whelan sticking to his guns over his £10 million valuation of the France international.

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish confirmed yesterday (Wednesday) that he had made an improved offer for N`Zogbia, he also said that it would be the final offer too.

'We have made another bid for Charles and we wait to see if it's successful or not' said McLeish

'We're awaiting Wigan's response.

'If this doesn't happen, we have to move on to our next target quickly.'

With the transfer deadline set for Tuesday it would look that N`Zogbia to Birmingham isn`t going to happen and the bar has been firmly set at £10 million with no compromise.

Think suggestions that the bid has been rejected are slightly premature. The Barclays Premier League website is still saying that Birmingham are awaiting Wigan's response. 10:25.

Apparantly the bid is only just above the 8.2 they bid before. I think they are taking a punt as DW actually values him at 13m but was going to let him go for 9m. I don't think he will budge on that.

Valued him at £13m but let him go for £9m? What planet are you living on? The valuation Whelan has is £10m and it's like selling your house. You may overprice it but if it's in demand it's in demand! Birmingham's bid is believed to have been 500k under that 10m valuation. The manager is telling porkies to get the player to stay. No communication has happened between Birmingham and Wigan since bid was put in. It may be that Wigan accept it next week.
