Lawro Predicts - Spurs v Latics

Former Liverpool defender and current Match of the Day pundit Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson has done his weekly round of predictions for the BBC and he is predicting that the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Wigan Athletic at White Hart Lane will end in a home win for Spurs, let`s see what his reasons are:

Tottenham v Wigan

Spurs will still be buzzing from Wednesday's win over Young Boys which secured their place in the Champions League and, such is their strength in depth, they've got the luxury of being able to change their team around. Whether or not they bring in Roman Pavlyuchenko and Robbie Keane for Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe, they'll still be overwhelming favourites to see off Wigan, especially as it's at White Hart Lane.

I thought Wigan's defending against Chelsea was even more desperate than Blackpool's at Arsenal; their back four resembled a bunch of strangers who had just met up in the car park an hour before the match. At the start of the season we said the great thing about the Premier League was that there were no easy games but, looking at the way some teams have started the season, I'm not so sure.

Prediction: 3-0

It`s difficult not to agree with Lawro but for some sneaky, or freaky reason I am going to say that the Latics will pick up their first points of the season in this game, I am going for a 1-0 away win courtesy of a dodgy penalty graciously given by our favourite ref Phil Dowd.

Are you for real?, a sneaky 1-0. The only sneaking being done will be your fans towards the exits. This has a solid 3-0 all over it...it reeks of it!!!

You may well get a dodgy penalty, and in all honesty this very un-tottenhamish streak of good fortune with officials and their decisions will probably end abruptly sooner or later, but I have us down for a 2-1 win. Something tells me Al-Habsi will be a right miraculous ******** and prevent us from scoring more.

Wait, Spurs are at home right? Last season they conceded 12 goals all season and 10 the season before. I do not see Spurs breaking their duck on Saturday. This could get nasty, not a 9-1 nasty but it could be 4-0.

I reckon we'll rest a few chaps (obviously King) so Gallas may get his debut, JD, Gomes & Modric injured & Sarge well he's no longer the skilled player we bought so the bench (sorry Latics thats got to hurt, tho his transfer fee didn't !). So I guess we'll prob go with Carlo, Charlie, Daws, Gallas, BAE, Lennon, Thudd, Niko, Bale, Gio, Crouch. Subs : Pletikosa - Kaboul - JJ - Sarge - Rose - Pav - Walker. Although that would make 4 changes if we don't win by at least 2 Goals & keeping a clean sheet then the lads have some serious explaining to do. No offence Wigan & your results will change in your favour but that won't be happening at the Lane. I hope your manager gets a proper chance coz he's a decent Man who at times had Wigan playing very well last season i.e. Emirates ! Do you want to loan Livermore ? He would be a superb addition to any midfield & tbh great experience for the lad. Prem experience under a good young Manager. Good luck in what looks like a tough season ahead (tho no good will this week ;-). COYS

worbo, here's my advise to you: get some people together and sneak into WHL tonight, to replace the pitch with astro-turf. Then, you may have a chance.
