'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Tottenham V Wigan

Wigan visit Tottenham, hoping to put to rest the ghost of their horrific 9-1 drubbing they suffered last year which hurt fans and team alike, which was turned around sweetly the following week with a victory over Sunderland.

Victor Moses is out for Wigan and that's a very painful loss for Roberto Martinez as we have no natural winger whose even in his class, let alone Charles N'Zogbia's! It will be a makeshift role for someone on Saturday and with the news Maynor Figueroa also has a spell on the sidelines, things get worse for Wigan Athletic already!

Tottenham are on the back of a marvellous victory over the Young Bhoys and will be buoyed by their win as they look to continue their quest for a top four finish in the Premier League. They've had a good draw with Manchester City and also dubiously beaten Stoke City, who have also endured an equally tough start.

The omens get worse as Wigan have not won in the capital since 2006 at West Ham. Its got to change sometime, but I fear its not going to change at White Hart Lane unless an absolutely immense performance can be put in by the players and they know they have a lot to live up to after shipping a whopping ten goals in their last two games, one of which was against Blackpool and the other against 09-10 champions Chelsea.

Martinez has come under a lot of scrutiny but Dave Whelan has decided to back him all the way - a good move? Only time will tell and with the lack of new faces being brought into the club, these are desperate times indeed for Wigan Athletic and everyone concerned.

ROB'S PREDICTION
================

I think that Tottenham have got just far too much for Wigan for them to be able to mount a serious challenge at the lane and I see it as another poor day at the office for Roberto Martinez as the woe looks set to go on for a considerable amount of time yet.

Tottenham 4 Wigan 1

ROB'S FINAL THOUGHT
===================

Was Whelan right to back Martinez? I'm not sure if he was - whilst loyalty is admirable at best, it doesn't bring results and Roberto has really got to deliver, but with such a paper-thin squad, the future I think isn't bright at the moment, but nevertheless I do think things will improve, but by that time it may already be too late.

Id rather you lot have won the opener as you would have come to spurs expecting to be beat and not be overly bothered, now you really have to fight for a piont or more, you always expect a team o a poor run to come good at some point, hopefully you dont tomorrow!

I may have to re-evaluate my opinion now that Charlie Boy is off to Birmingham and we're left with no natural wingers....
robin
As my fellow spurs fan liamyid says you will get points this season, but hopefully spurs will take 3 tomorrow.. Good luck for all wigan fans from Sunday!..

yeah same here good luck for the season just not tomorrow please, i think it will be a tough game and i think it will be tighter than a three goal margin.
