N'Zogbia Talks Irrevocably Broke Down

N'Zogbia Talks Irrevocably Broke Down

Wigan Athletic player Charles N`Zogbia will definitely not be joining Birmingham City after the Midlands club issued a statement saying that talks between themselves and the player 'broke down irrevocably`.

With Latics accepting Birminghams latest offer for N`Zogbia it appeared that the France international would be moving down the M6 to St. Andrews but something has clearly not gone according to plan. Maybe Charlie didn`t fancy the move.

Birmingham City though appear to be pretty miffed as the statement off their official website suggests that some shenanigans were afoot, the statement reads:

N'ZOGBIA STATEMENT

Winger Charles N'Zogbia will not be joining Blues after talks to sign him broke down irrevocably.

Birmingham City agreed a club record fee with Wigan Athletic and a transfer was agreed subject to personal terms. An offer was made that was accepted by the player, but then the goalposts were moved.

Manager Alex McLeish told bcfc.com: 'We did everything that was asked of us and then the goalposts were moved at the last minute.

'It was very important to us as a club to stick to our principals and look after the longterm interests of Birmingham City as we are custodians of the club.

'We remain ambitious and committed to adding extra quality to the playing squad but this deal became one that was not in the interests of the club.

'The Board worked with me extremely hard to try and get this one over the line and I thank them for their support.'

Blues remain absolutely determined to signing players who want to come to the West Midlands and play for Birmingham City for all the right reasons and senior club personnel will continue to work extremely hard to that end.

Oooh I wonder whats gone on there, third party involvement? Or just crappy terms compared to what he`s on at the Latics, who knows but it doesn`t sound like he will be going to Birmingham before the end of the month.

I'm not being funny, but their Chairman isn't known for being straight forward. Also I didn't like McLeish either. Charlie was mad entertaining that club as an option. He should wait till a Big club comes in and it ain't Wunderland either. That would be another downward move. Play ya heart out today Charlie :)

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
