Wigan Athletic - Di Santo Set For Permanent Deal

Wigan Athletic are set to sign Chelsea youngster Franco Di Santo on a permanent deal rather than the loan deal that was previously arranged between the two clubs.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez is prepared to take a chance on the 21 year old Argentine forward who Chelsea are willing o let go for an initial £1million rising to £2 million with performance related bonuses.

Martinez has had to have this change of heart now he has been given the green light from Manchester United to take midfielder Tom Cleverley on a season long loan from Old Trafford and filling his quota of loanees.

Speaking on the matter Martinez says: "The restrictions from the Premier League do not help young players in this country.

"You can bring in as many foreign loans as you want but only two from here. It is unfair on the clubs and the talent coming through."

Di Santo, question for Blackburn fans, is he worth a punt?

i hope tom cleverley comes it would be great
johnney handsome
They say that he's a tree.. Can't understand this move, hope that I'm wrong and he'll be a cracker player for us. TC on loan is very good for us. I thought he'd chose Bolton - Coyle plays attractive football too.
adequate
Hopefully we sign Al Habsi permanently so we can sign both on loan, would be a much better idea.

Coyle didn't want to sell him - he knew that he's class

For me, if Bob rates this guy it makes more sense to bring him in for a million than to get him on loan for a small fee. If he's here on loan he'll be 100% committed and if he has a good season we'll be on to a winner. On the other hand if he's crap he's got fine pedigree in South America so he'll still have clubs interested in him enough to pay us half a million. What we dont want though is for Hugo to go and then rely on this guy as our only cover for Boselli! As 3rd/4th choice, fine.

sory, meant if he's here permanently he'll be 100% committed etc

what do you think of boselli? we played 10 men before gomez came in... bob can't use him
