Vote For Your Latics Man of the Match v Spurs

Wigan Athletic had a great result yesterday to get their season up and running, a win at Spurs is never an easy result to get but a very determined performance from the Latics saw this achieved.

It is hard to separate the eleven who started and single anyone out as man of the match, Steve Gohouri and Antolin Alcaraz both gave excellent performances in the centre of defence, Ronnie Stam and Emmerson Boyce were superb down the Latics right shackling Aaron Lennon and making some telling runs themselves.

The midfield trio of James McCarthy, Momo Diame and Hendry Thomas worked tirelessly all afternoon and their tackling and movement was spot on, the front two Mauro Boselli and Hugo Rodallega ran themselves into the ground, as did Maynor Figueroa at left back, but for me the Latics man of the match was goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi.

He had a great game, safe handling, good decision making and some superb stops.
