'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bramble in Little Wigan Dig

Former Wigan Athletic defender Titus Bramble has taken a swipe at the Latics in a similar way that his former colleague Paul Scharner did once he`d signed for West Brom.

Speaking to a local newspaper up in the North East former Latics player of the season Bramble, who had his career turned around at Wigan after a shambolic period up at Newcastle, claims that with crowds of just 16,000 it`s not surprising that players want to leave the DW Stadium for a big club like Sunderland.

Jumping on the Scharner bandwagon Bramble has a little pop at current boss Roberto Martinez saying 'it was a big change from when Steve Bruce was there`, yeah it was, we actually won a few games playing football rather than big boot.

Bramble also mentions the rugby, selling players and says we are likely candidates for relegation, nice to see we are still close to his heart.

Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle Bramble said: "It is always going to be a struggle for clubs like Wigan - it was last season, to be honest.

"With a new manager coming in, it was a big change from when Steve Bruce was there.

"It is hard to hang on to your best players.

"Wigan are a good family club but, because it is a rugby area, they only have crowds of about 16-18,000 at home games.

"Any good player with ambition wants to play for a big club like Sunderland and play in front of 40-45,000 fans every week.

' Best squad ever. It's all about how we play as a team. If we can do that then Scharner and Bramble will be eating their words. If we can't, well I'll still be here!'

"I am keeping my fingers crossed they don`t get relegated, but it will be tough because so many players have moved on."

Thanks Titus, here`s hoping you have a good season too

For a team what saved his career he then goes and does this, absolute disgrace to say that to us. Well atleast we replaced him with 2 technical defenders who have pace. We wont miss him i dont think. Boyce and Caldwell are here too. And i always thought Boyce was better just a unsung player.

I agree what he said was not good, in all honesty. We did all this for him and he's saying Wigan aren't a good club for good players, basically. Lets hope he scores an own goal and show him what big a mistake he made!
robin
We know he can be a big daft lump when he throws himself into tackle, of hoofs the ball in a mis-qued clearance. Martinez was trying to teach him football, but I think he was a bit too thick, however, I do see him slipping back into his old ways under Brucie.
