Latics Reserves 2-1 Blackburn Reserves

Wigan Athletic reserves have made a good start to the current campaign, off the back of two draws against Liverpool and Sunderland Graham Barrows second string recorded their first win of the new season last night against Blackburn Rovers at Robin Park Arena when Callum McManaman and Jordan Rugg scored the goals in a 2-1 win.

With Pollitt, McArthur, DeRidder, Moses, Golobart and Steven Caldwell all starting the game there was a strong experienced feel about the Latics and when McManaman put the home side ahead on 21 minutes it looked like they would go on to score a few more.

Blackburn also had a few first teamers on show and it was them who scored next though to tie the game up at 1-1 on 64 minutes, determination though showed through and young Jordan Rugg popped up to tap home the ball after a rasping shot from McManaman had been parried by Bunn in the Blackburn goal.

Latics: Pollitt; Buxton, Golobart, S. Caldwell, Mustoe; Breeze, McArthur; Moses (Rugg, 60), Redmond, De Ridder; McManaman

Blackburn: Bunn; Lowe (O'Connor, 46), Morris, Gunning, Pearson, Linganzi, Emerton, Dunn (Potts, 55), Benjani, Nzonzi, Hoilett
