'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martinez Looks Ahead To City Game

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has spoken about facing Manchester City`s multi-talented and multi-faceted squad in this Sunday`s encounter at the DW Stadium.

City sit just one point better off than the Latics following an unconvincing start to the season despite spending the best part of £100 million during the summer, but Martinez reckons that although they have a fantastic array of talent in their squad they are not quite clicking as a team just yet.

The Latics boss believes that City will 'click` soon and challenge for the Premier League title but hopes that it won`t be until after we have played them. Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post Martinez said: "You are always looking at what you are doing rather than the opposition"

"But you look at Manchester City, and you feel it`s only a matter of time before they are competing to win the Premier League.

"You just hope that we are playing them at a time when we can disrupt them and not allow them to be themselves.

"They have assembled probably the best squad of 20 footballers anywhere in the world, and that`s obviously a fantastic position to be in.

"It`s only a matter of time before they click, and they are going to be challenging for the title very soon - there`s no two ways about that.

"We just need to make it difficult as we can for them, and we are also desperate to get the rewards we didn`t get against Sunderland."

"You can buy as many players as you like, but you`ll never buy a complete team"

"The hardest part of the challenge facing the management at City is to get a team out of a lot of skilled individuals."
