Ali Al-Habsi Wanted For The Long Haul

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has been speaking about on loan goal keeper Ali Al-Habsi and says that he wants to keep the Oman international at the Latics for as long as possible.

Signed on a year long loan deal in the summer from neighbours and Premier League rivals Bolton, Al-Habsi is enjoying a terrific run of form and he is keeping Latics number 1 Chris Kirkland on bench warming duties.

It appears though that the 28 year old brings more than his goal keeping abilities to the squad and he is a great character around the training pitch and in the dressing room

Speaking about Al-Habsi Martinez says: 'We are all pleased Ali is with us and we will try to keep him here as long as we can.

'He has been a breath of fresh air since he came in. He loves his football and has high standards.

'It is very rare that a foreign player has real knowledge of the Premier League but Ali has developed that during his time in England.

'Since his first game he has been performing at a very good level. He has been very consistent and assured.

'He has developed a great relationship with the back four and that is always important. But the main thing is he is enjoying his football.'
