Vote - Latics Player of the Month - September

Who is your Latics Player of the Month?

Wigan Athletic enjoyed success in the Carling Cup during September when local rivals Preston North End were beaten at the DW Stadium in dramatic fashion with Jordi Gomez getting his second goal of the season and Charles N`Zogbia stealing the show with his late, late winner.

Alongside the Carling Cup game the Latics have played three Premier League fixtures during September, losing to Manchester City and drawing with Sunderland and Birmingham.

There have been some good performances throughout the month, Steve Gohouri and Antolin Alcaraz have played well together, James McCarthy has been coming more to the fore with each game and Hendry Thomas is showing good early season form.

Emmerson Boyce has settled into the season well and following his transfer wrangling Charles N`Zogbia has been very good since he`s been back in the team, but for me the player who has stood head and shoulders above the rest has been Ali Al-Habsi

The on loan keeper has brought an assurance and confidence to the defence, his handling and decision making have been very good and his agility is excellent, the Oman international has made a great start to his Latics career conceding just 4 goals in his first 6 games and keeping 3 clean sheets

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
