Wolves Reserves 1-2 Latics Reserves


Wigan Athletic reserves travelled down to Molineux to face Wolverhampton Wanderers reserves, Graham Barrows men continued their impressive start to the season with a 2-1 win despite being reduced to 10 men, Adam Buxton receiving his marching orders for his second booking of the night.

Wolves took the lead in the 16th minute when Sam Winnall took advantage of a hesitant Latics defence and he ran through the middle before picking his spot from the edge of the area.

James McArthur had a 20-yard drive taken confidently by Wolves keeper East and Ben Watson hit a free-kick that was curling inside the near post until it was beaten away by East. Latics were finishing the half strongly and Callum Morris fired narrowly over with a first time shot following a cross from McNanaman.

Latics started the second half pressing for the equaliser and were creating all the chances, McManaman, De Ridder and McArthur all went close before Latics drew level on 72 minutes.

Daniel Redmonds cross was headed home by James McArthur and the Latics were in the ascendancy.

Buxton was sent off in the 89th minute but it mattered not, Daniel De Ridder thumped home from six yards to give Latics reserves the points and keep them nestled at the top end of the table.


Wolves: East, Doherty (Dunleavy 62), Malone, Batth, Mouyokolo, Harris, Winnall, Rooney, Spray (Price 6), Hemmings, Hunt (Reckord 45).

Unused subs: Cotman, Ebanks-Landell.
