Wigan Athletic - Injury Updates

Wigan Athletic defender Antolin Alcaraz is rated at 50/50 for tomorrows game against Newcastle United up at St. James` Park.

The Paraguay international defender suffered a knock to his ankle in the win against Wolves at the DW Stadium two weeks ago and it looks like the injury was worse than first suspected, Alcaraz missed the midweek internationals and is now doubtful for Latics Premier League clash against the Geordies.

Goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi was forced to miss the Oman v Chile international in midweek due to a stomach upset but Latics manager Roberto Martinez says that its now cleared up (thank goodness) and that Al-Habsi is back in full training and available for selection.

Gary Caldwell is pressing for a return to the first team squad following his inclusion in the Scotland team for last weekend`s trip to the Czech Republic, Caldwell lasted 70 minutes before he was replaced, an excellent work out for the gritty centre-back and he is way ahead of schedule after his two hip operations in the summer.

Also set for a return is loanee Tom Cleverley who featured in both of the England under 21 games against Romania and played a starring role as the U21`s qualified for next summer`s European Championships.

Alcaraz will be missed if he is forced to sit out the game
worbo
Gohouri and Boyce at the back then, Stam on the right and Fig on the left. that would be the best bet for it.
