Peru - Dopey Players Horsing Around

If you thought that Wigan Athletic players sometimes looked a little dopey what about this lot in Peru.

A game between Ancash and Acosvinchos ended up with serious problems for a tired looking Acosvinchos side

Four players fainted after drinking water from a bottle that was passed to them by opposition officials

Taken to hospital and following blood tests the players were found to have traces of benzodiazepine, a horse sedative, in their bodies....neigh, I kid you not

Acosvinchos team boss Americo Ibanez said: 'My boys say Ancash medical staff gave them a liquid which made them feel dizzy and faint.`


In response Ancash president Pepe Mallqui said: 'They ate a very late lunch, barbecued chicken with spices and ended up taking indigestion tablets afterwards. I'm sure these four men fainted because of that and the physical effort they put in.'

A horsey tale from the Andes, the four players are back in the paddock and looking forward to their carrots.
