Latics Keeper Goes to Hartlepool on Loan

Wigan Athletic youngster Lee Nichols has agreed to a loan move that will see him spend the next month at League 1 club Hartlepool United, but at the same time be eligible to play for the Latics reserve side.

The young goalkeeper is loving life at Wigan but realises the chance to possibly get some first team action up in the North East is just too good to turn down, the new loan system allows Nicholls to play for the Latics reserves yet be registered to play for Hartlepool, a system that appears to work in everyone`s favour.

Former Latics coach Gary Walsh is the goalkeeping coach at Hartlepool so Nicholls will have a familiar face to work with.

Speaking to Latics World Nicholls said: "I love it here at Wigan and get to train with the first team keepers"

"But, if the loan move to Hartlepool gives me more experience, then it will be good for me"

"I`m looking forward to meeting Gary and working with the team"

Hartlepool boss Mick Wadsworth is delighted to have got Nicholls on board and said: "We`re delighted that Wigan have allowed us to bring Lee into our squad"

"Gary Walsh knows all about him and how good a young keeper he is so we`re looking forward to working with him during his spell with us"
