Wigan Athletic`s fixtures for the second season in the Premiership have been released.
Latics start off with a trip to Newcastle United on the opening day, Saturday August the 19th followed on Tuesday the 22nd with the visit of losing Carling Cup semi-finalists Arsenal to the JJB. This is our only midweek home game in the Premiership as things stand. Late Update Arsenal match postponed due to Champions League qualifying round. So Reading on Saturday the 28th of August becomes our first home game of the season.
We don`t have another 'Run Of Death` like last years games against Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United that put paid to our early season run of 6 wins. However we do play both Manchester clubs at home on consecutive Saturdays in October and Chelsea twice 3 weeks apart either side of Christmas/New Year.
Our first visit to the new Emirates Stadium will be on Saturday the 10th of February.
The final match of the season is away to new boys Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday May the 13th, which could be a vital match in the relegation stakes, hopefully not for us though.
Fixtures are subject to change when Sky Sports get their mucky mitts on them.
