Gary Caldwell Facing 4 to 6 Weeks Out

Wigan Athletic captain Gary Caldwell has suffered a thigh injury that boss Roberto Martinez describes as a great disappointment for the skipper following his return to action recently and now he could be facing four to six weeks on the side lines.

Caldwell pulled up sharply during last Saturdays win over West Brom after he guided a ball out of play, it was obvious that he had a muscle injury and Caldwell left the field to be replaced by his brother Steven.

Martinez says that Caldwell will have treatment and scans on his injury as the club look to get him back to action as soon as possible but it`s looking like he`ll be out a few weeks.

Speaking to Latics Player Martinez says: "Gary suffered a tear in the quads and we are going to scan it and find out the extent of the damage"

"When you get that sort of injury you always fear the worse and the worse could be between four and six weeks"

"Hopefully its just a small tear but it looks like we`re going to miss Gary for a few weeks"

Pity because he was looking good along side Alcaraz

We've got Gohouri still... and the thing is he'd only just come back from injury...

Yeah but players tend be more prone to smaller injuries when they have been out for so long.

That's a shame - Steve Caldwell made me decidedly nervous while he was on. Is Stevie G due back soon?
guitardave
Stevie G is back now, he played left back against WBA
