Latics Fans See Steve Gohouri at Right Back

Wigan Athletic fans see Steve Gohouri primarily as a right back, well according to our last poll they do.

The big Ivory Coast defender featured mainly alongside Antolin Alcaraz this season in the centre of defence, but he tore his calf muscle and missed a few games, recently returned from the injury in the Blackburn game Gohouri he played right back in the absence of Emmerson Boyce only to pick up his 5th booking of the season and find himself suspended for the next game against Liverpool.

In the West Brom match last Saturday Stevie G came back into the side, but, finding himself at left back in place of Maynor Figueroa who was on the bench, so where is he most suited?

He is a strong pacey defender who isn`t afraid to take on, good in the air and determined in the tackle, personally I think he is versatile and can play across the back and this is a great quality, the majority of fans though feel he is best suited to right back.

The voting was:

Steve Gohouri, is he a:

Right back - 45%
Centre back - 37%
Left back - 18%

Better suited as a right back, but still effective as a centre back

...also thought he looked good as left back on Saturday.

I think he is comfortable anywhere across the back line, though I still say his best position is right back
