Ali and Mike Help Raise Cash and Awareness

Wigan Athletic goalkeepers Ali Al-Habsi and Mike Pollitt did their but for Children in Need with a special appearance at the `Bridging The Gap Has Got Talent` night at the Oak Hotel in down town Wigan.

The charity event, organised by the Bridging the Gap organisation, raised over £1,000, performers showing off their talents, for the delight and entertainment of Ali, Mike and the rest of the audience, included Elvis, Lady Gaga and a specialist act that performed Kung Fu with wafers!

Ali Al Habsi said: "It`s really important for football clubs to feel close to the local people, and I am always happy to come and help!"

Mike Pollitt, always at home behind a microphone, added: "People were clearly having a laugh and helping to raise money for a great cause, and it was a pleasure to be able to be involved."

Bridging the Gap is a training programme designed to train people in the Wigan community. It offers an opportunity for people to develop skills and training in the substance misuse field. It is supported by a six month placement with a local organisation.
