Ali and Mike Help Raise Cash and Awareness

Wigan Athletic goalkeepers Ali Al-Habsi and Mike Pollitt did their but for Children in Need with a special appearance at the `Bridging The Gap Has Got Talent` night at the Oak Hotel in down town Wigan.

The charity event, organised by the Bridging the Gap organisation, raised over 1,000, performers showing off their talents, for the delight and entertainment of Ali, Mike and the rest of the audience, included Elvis, Lady Gaga and a specialist act that performed Kung Fu with wafers!

Ali Al Habsi said: "It`s really important for football clubs to feel close to the local people, and I am always happy to come and help!"

Mike Pollitt, always at home behind a microphone, added: "People were clearly having a laugh and helping to raise money for a great cause, and it was a pleasure to be able to be involved."

Bridging the Gap is a training programme designed to train people in the Wigan community. It offers an opportunity for people to develop skills and training in the substance misuse field. It is supported by a six month placement with a local organisation.
