Chris Kirkland, Leicester Move Set For Completion

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland`s proposed loan move to Championship club Leicester City looks set to be completed in the next couple of days.

The big shot stopper was all set to join Sven Goran Erikssons Foxes last week but in typical Kirkland fashion he developed a virus which set the move back a week, now that`s cleared up Kirkie could be signed up and all set to make his debut in Leicester's Monday night derby clash with Nottingham Forest.

Latics boss Roberto Martinez confirmed the delay but now says that Kirkland`s move is imminent. Martinez said: "Now he (Kirkland) is over the bug, we will look into what we can do to help him enjoy his football.

"He needs to be playing and being able to maintain that sharpness. We will need him to be ready whenever he gets an opportunity to play for Wigan."

Typical of big Chris to hold the deal up with a virus

i find it odd how he was seen, to most outside fans, as a big factor in wigan staying up for so long

Sorry, can't understand this move at all. So what about if Al Habsi gets injured or when we play Bolton again - Is Nicholls really all that or are we going to wheel out Pollitt to cover? We finally had two good keepers and we loan one out. I understand he may need to get match practice to keep sharp but if you want to be successful you need competition for places. Look at United, they may only play VDS but they have two good backup keepers for cup matches and the like. Very strange.
