Lawro Predicts - West Ham v Latics

Former Liverpool defender and current Match of the Day pundit Mark 'Lawro` Lawrenson has done his weekly round of predictions for the BBC and he is predicting that Saturday`s Premier League game between West Ham United and Wigan Athletic at Upton Park will end in a home win for the Hammers, let`s see what his reasons are:

West Ham v Wigan

This is a game West Ham cannot lose. They've just lost their assistant manager, Avram Grant is under real pressure and he will have circled this game as a must-win fixture.

I just don't know about this Wigan team, they are so inconsistent. So for this reason, it's a home win for me.

Prediction: 1-0

Well gotta disagree Lawro, I think the Latics will win in London tomorrow, the West Ham board have heaped a shed load of pressure on the players, manager and fans by making it a 'save our season` game, plus Latics are much better than the league position suggests, I am going for a 2-0 Wigan win.

Yep 2-0 Latics win for me

The `accusation` that we're inconsistent is no longer accurate (and seems to me to be a disappointingly lazy, offhand statement that shows no interest in checking out what is really happening here). Inconsistency was true last season. This season the performances, with only 3 exceptions (you know the ones), have been very consistent, which is very pleasing. It's only the actual results that have been disappointing. We all hope for a `goalfest` to reflect our performances. The potential for that (sooner rather than later?) is considerable.
