West Ham are in freefall and have won just one game this season - I think that fate has already been written for the unfortunate hammers and for them to survive this season, will be very difficult.
Roberto Martinez's Wigan are not so much better off but there is cause for optimism. Despite Hugo Rodallega and Antolin Alcaraz being unavailable, its going to be a very difficult game for West Ham and Wigan and I suspect this game will result in a goalless draw which won't suit West Ham as much as it will suit Wigan.
Today is the chance for Roberto to put some of his lesser-exploited talents onto the pitch and hopefully, players like Victor Moses and Mauro Boselli can show what they are finally made of.
For West Ham, they must win today and the fact that Wigan have not won in London for a long time, despite their excellent win at Tottenham, will encourage the hammers.
Nevertheless, I see this game petering out into a draw.
I think this game will peter out into a draw today and I think it will be extremely cagey.
West Ham 0-0 Wigan Athletic
ROB'S OTHER PREDICTIONS
Aston Villa V Arsenal - This will be a very close contest but I think Arsenal will just shade this game. 0-1
Bolton V Blackpool - Blackpool are a team not to be underestimated and Bolton are on a red hot run. Still, Blackpool will provide stern opposition and Owen Coyle will be aware that Blackpool won at Anfield as well. A tricky game to predict, but I'm going for a draw. 1-1
Everton V West Brom - Three points in the bag (sorry, couldn't resist) for Everton today. Matteo's team have collapsed of late and could prove costly come the end of the season indeed. 2-0
Fulham V Birmingham - This IS a relegation battle - Fulham are hovering perilously above the relegation zone. Birmingham are no mugs but Fulham need to win this game and I think that it'll be a nervy game. Fulham to win. 1-0
Man Utd V Blackburn - Well, I think you all know what I think the result will be. I don't see a cricket score but I see a comfortable win for Ferguson's men. 2-0
Stoke V Man City - Well the tasty game of the weekend is divided by a couple of games, this one included. Man City need to keep their momentum going - will they win at Stoke? They did Liverpool over but I think Mancini might have to settle for a point and that won't be a bad thing as the Britannia is a notoriously difficult place to visit in the Premier League. 1-1
Wolves V Sunderland - Sunderland are in great form and Mick McCarthy won't be looking forward to welcoming a team that dismantled Chelsea so devastatingly. I do think Wolves will give this a go though. Ultimately, an away win. 0-2
Newcastle V Chelsea - How can Lawro see this as a draw? Chelsea are MILES better than Newcastle and need to reboot their season - this is the wrong time to play Chelsea. A somewhat comfortable win for Ancelotti's men. 1-3
Tottenham V Liverpool - Well Roy DOES need to win this game today if he has any hopes of building towards a top four spot, but I see that as unlikely. Liverpool may make Europe, but they're not the same team they once were and without Steven Gerrard, the problems just don't seem to desert the club. That said, I think it'll be a tough game for both sides. 0-0
ROB'S FINAL THOUGHT
Wins for Wigan and Huddersfield will make the perfect weekend.
