Rob's Prediction: Wigan V Stoke City

Wigan are in a perilous situation - their strike force is all but depleted with the latest injury coming to teenage prodigy Victor Moses who had up until that point put in an impressive shift against Arsene Wegner's Arsenal side but the result at the end of it all was hardly a surprise.

The only fit striker is misfit Mauro Boselli with Franco Di Santo being rated as 50/50. Hugo Rodallega serves his last game match ban and will be available for the game at Everton, so now begins what will make or break Wigan's season.

Stoke aren't without problems of their own and their away form is pretty average this season - but they do boast terrific wins at Newcastle and also West Brom and Wigan boss Martinez knows they won't be easily pushed over today.

However with the depleted Wigan side going onto the field and attack threat at a mediocre level, it has to be said the omens aren't looking good, especially since Stoke have not lost to Wigan ever. Still, there's always reason to hope.

ROB'S PREDICTION
================

Things could look slightly rosier when Hugo returns but today we'll have to put up with misfiring Mauro and hopefully Franco Di Santo will play but if he passes any fitness test, the best I think he could hope for is the bench. Stoke City are no mugs and they've done well and should be proud of their achievements. I see a hard fought away win for the travelling Potters today.

Wigan Athletic 0-1 Stoke City

ROB'S OTHER PREDICTIONS
========================

Please note the predictions below are based on whether or not the games go ahead and some of the games below may have already been cancelled.

Arsenal V Fulham - Draw specialists they might be but I think Arsenal will win this - they were poor against Wigan a few nights ago and Wigan should have made their efforts count more when it mattered. Still, the result was not surprising. Arsenal I think will win by the same scoreline. 2-0

Birmingham V Tottenham - Tottenham I think grow stronger under Harry Redknapp. Birmingham are a funny side in which they got a smart result over Chelsea after a horrid run and got a draw at Fulham. Birmingham like most aren't pushovers at all. However, I see a win for Spurs. 0-1

Blackburn V Wolves - Blackburn are tough to beat at home and despite Wolves being a good, committed side, I think Blackburn will win this, but only by the odd goal. 2-1

Chelsea V Everton - Can Moyes add more misery for Ancelotti at the bridge? My crystal ball says yes and as its his 400th game in charge, I'm going to go for a shock here. Just got a feeling about this game. 0-1

Man City V Bolton - Time for Bolton's streak to come to an end and what better time than to go to Eastlands and get a tonking. I don't think Bolton are good enough to beat this Man City side who showed when they play Fulham that they can tear any team apart. Who'd want to be Owen Coyle or Bolton today? 3-1

West Brom V Newcastle - This is a tasty game and I do think that Newcastle might have the slight edge over West Brom - West Brom got a marvellous victory over Everton but I think Newcastle may just shade it. 0-1

Sunderland V West Ham - Sunderland I think might find out that West Ham have got their mojo back today and they'll be hungry to build on their recent run of good fortune, no more so than their delightful result against Man Utd. Sunderland will be wary and Avram knows how to grid out results here and there. Expect a hard fought away win today. 0-1

Liverpool V Aston Villa - The pool will be looking for revenge after Villa beat them here at Anfield and I think that Villa will provide stern opposition for Roy and his food for thought. Villa aren't mugs and Liverpool are hardly firing on all cylinders. A draw is in the offing here. 1-1

ROB'S FINAL THOUGHT
===================

A wigan win would put the smile back on the faces of many. However I can't see that and unfortunately the huddersfield game has been postponed. A great shame. Still, there's always reason to hope and who knows, maybe.... FINALLY... Mauro Boselli will net his first goal in Wigan colours. Come on, Mauro!

".....especially since Stoke have not lost to Wigan ever." 13/11/01, 6-1 Wigan ring a bell?... Awful first half today, much better second half, I suppose a point earned rather than 2 lost today. Shame Boselli poses about as much a threat as Audrey Harrison...
