What The Bosses Said - Latics 2-2 Stoke

Wigan Athletic drew 2-2 with Stoke City yesterday at the DW Stadium in what was an entertaining and exciting game of football, four goals, great saves and an unbelievable miss on what was a freezing cold day.

Following the game both bosses, Roberto Martinez and Tony Pulis spoke to the press, let`s see what the had to say:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez:

'I felt that they were two different halves in our level of performance.

'I felt the first half we were playing with a bit of fear and we allowed Stoke to be a real threat in certain things but we conceded two goals probably out of not even three chances.

'And that was a real task then the second half, because Stoke obviously they can use the lead really well and they've done that twice today.

'But the second half, I was very pleased with the performance, the way we had to work hard, I think we controlled the game and we had an outstanding chance to win it at the end with Charles N'Zogbia's chance.

'So overall the performance, really, really good in the second half in a very tricky day and a tricky fixture because you know that Stoke are using what they're good at really, really well and when you give them the lead that we gave them today it's a mountain to climb but the reaction in the second half, very pleasing.'

Stoke boss Tony Pulis:

'It was an open game, we're desperately disappointed with the two goals we conceded but we can't be greedy.

'The teams who have come up have done well so it's a much tighter, more compact league than last year - every point will count.

'To come away from home and make as many chances as we did shows we're trying to be positive. People get carried away, but we're bobbing along nicely, there's lots of spirit in the team which has always been the case, we've just added a bit more quality.'

I have watched it three times now and still think it was an entertaining game

Another day when we play well, get sloppy at the back, deserve more and don't get the 3 points we deserve. But if we play that well every week we should climb up :) ISRM
