Wigan Athletic Progress in FA Youth Cup


Wigan Athletic Youth Team are through to the 4th round of the FA Youth Cup after they beat Stoke City 3-0 at the DW Stadium.

Goals from Michael Girvan, Ryan Astles and Ryan Watson gave the Latics youngsters a comfortable win and the team gave a solid performance with Sean Myler, who played left midfield having the stand out game.

Girvan opened the scoring for the Latics on six minutes after the Stoke keeper fumbled a free kick which was crossed into the box, the ball dropped at the defenders feet and he poked the ball home.

Latics dominated from here on but it wasn`t until the 51st minute that they increased their lead, Astles pouncing on another mistake by the Stoke keeper after he failed to hold a cross.

Watson wrapped things up in the closing stages smashing home from the edge of the area to give the score line a resounding ring to it.
