Paul Merson - 'Wigan Defended Very Well'

Following yesterdays goalless draw at Goodison, between Everton and Wigan Athletic, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson spoke to Soccer Saturday anchor man Jeff Stelling about the game, how well the Latics defended and that great goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi, lets see what he actually said:

Paul Merson speaking on Sky Sports: "Wigan couldn`t string four passes together which in fairness isn`t like them, they like to pass the ball around and can play some good football without winning games

"But, today they defended very well, they rode their luck a few times, he`ll (Martinez) be pleased.

"A clean sheet at Everton being in their position, they`d have took that before the game, no question"

"Al-Habsi played very well again, he made a good save from Coleman with his feet, I don`t think I`ve seen him have a bad game to be fair to the lad"

Come on lets be serious no one in there right mind could have been happy with that display. The only reason we didnt lose is because Evertons finishing was woeful but after saying that Diame & Stam should both have won it for us

To get any sort of praise from this guy is a victory in itself lol to ZAKKY, we didn't deserve to get a point here but we got lucky, in the same sense we did deserve to get a point at blackburn but we didn't. Look at the positives and hope that this luck may be a turning point for the xmas period

Im with ZAKKY on this one yet again. It was a woeful display from us and only lady luck stopped Everton scoring 4 or 5

Brentford v Latics - Big Game Preview

A difficult game for the Latics this afternoon as they travel down to Brentford, the Bees have been scoring for fun so far at this campaign on their home turf, but we need to build upon a good win against Wolves on Tuesday and turn around our away form.

The Latics pulled out of the bottom three courtesy of Will Grigg's late, late winner, Grigg was of course signed for the Latics from Brentford, where some say he wasn't given much of a chance under Mark Warburton, so he will be eager to go
