Latics Recieve Good News On Tom Cleverley

Wigan Athletic have received some good news with regards to the injury sustained by Tom Cleverley in last weekends game at Everton.

It was thought that the young midfield man had cracked a rib but following x-rays and a scan it has been deduced that Cleverley suffered bruising rather than a crack or break, so rather than being sidelined for up to six weeks Latics boss Roberto Martinez is saying that he is in contention for Saturday`s game against Aston Villa at the DW Stadium.

Speaking to Latics Player Martinez said: "We had very good news, we had the x-ray and there was no fracture.

"It`s only a bruised rib but obviously still quite sore and quite painful"

"We hope that Tom will react to the treatment and at the end of the week we will assess him"

"Hopefully he will be in contention (for the Villa game)"
