Cleverley Decision Looks Likely at End of Month

Wigan Athletic and Tom Cleverley are both playing a waiting game over the immediate future of the England under 21 international.

Although Cleverley is on a season long loan with the Latics from Manchester United, there is a recall clause that will allow United manager Sir Alex Ferguson to take the midfield man back to Old Trafford in January if he wants to.

With former Latics man Antonio Valencia being out for the season, it`s thought, in some quarters, that Ferguson might want Cleverley back to act as cover down United`s right side and with news that Fergie wants to meet with Cleverley at the end of this month the signs are ominous.

The player himself though is enjoying his time at the DW Stadium and having got himself a regular starting spot in the Latics first team he appears to be hoping to stay put until the end of the season.

Speaking to Wigan Evening Post Cleverley said: "I`ve not heard anything yet but I think the manager (Ferguson) wants to see me at the end of the month.

"All I can do is play when I`m asked to play and train when I`m asked to train, and let the rest take care of itself.

"If I do end up staying at Wigan, though, I`d be more than happy to do that.

"I`ve just found my goalscoring boots and I`m feeling very confident in front of goal at the moment.

"I`m just looking to play as many games as possible, hopefully try and chip in with a few goals and help Wigan to win as many games as we can."

Here's hoping he stays
worbo
Yup we need him until some other players come back from injury for sure and he adds a lot of dynamism to the team with McCarthy and Moses injured.

i got a bad feeling fergie will want him too much as cover. but really think we need him more than they do
The_Belfast_Latic
I think Fergie will let him stay at Latics. The meeting at the end of the month, will more n likely be a 'pat on the back/keep up the good work' sort of thing. He will tell Cleverley that if he keeps playing well for Wigan, he'll be in his future plans...?
