The WEP At It Again

The WEP At It Again

Wigan Athletic for the second time in a week have been the subject of a 'dig` from local paper, the Wigan Evening Post.

Following on from the Momo Diame story, comparing his life in Wigan to his time spent in Madrid, his comments being taken totally out of context by the nationals, then the Post jump in with two feet to run some story of a care worker from Scholes all irate because the reporter had obviously wound her up.

Now the paper is slating the club because they wouldn`t sell Wigan based Manchester United fans seats in the `home end` for the upcoming game against the league leaders.

I thought that local papers were there to back their local clubs, not slate them at every opportunity, the Latics do lots of work in the community which is rarely reported, maybe there is some truth in the suggestion the WEP is changing its name to th`ugby Post, because it does seem like the paper is running some sort of vendetta against the Latics.

Yes, it doesn't seem to make any sense, either. Irritating, negative, inflammatory (poorly-researched) comments will just mean that they end up with several thousand less people buying their newspaper. Perhaps they think they can afford that. You'd have thought they might be proud of the success of their only town EPL team.

We have thousands of empty seats, just a thought, a suggestion here. What would be wrong with allocating an area (Neutral Zone) whereby our present fans (season ticket holders) are allowed to buy tickets Liverpool/Man.UTD/Chelsea/City/Everton/Bolton, in fact any supoorter or any other club, with having to lie to do it, which is what happens at the present time. Rather than the club knowing nothing about it at the moment, or tuening a blind eye, wouldn't it be better to know where those different supporters are Sat, no matter who they are ? That way, the club could Police it better. As it is, our own suuporters, and supporters, form other clubs are flouting the rules at the present time, and this will continue. The present system (Post Codes only, also makes liers and flouters of our own Wigan people, but also makes liers out of our own season tickets holders, who can buiy tickets for people who are not on the Latics Data base. This fans are being forced to buy tickets they should NOT under the present system, and these away suuporters end up sitting in and amoungst our own fans. Which isn't good enough. Honesty gets you Banned , and Lieing gets you a ticket. How can that be RIGHT?

Appalling newspaper, terrible grammar in all their news articles. Low rate journo's, who wouldn't know a good story if it ran them over. And if they want to watch their 'teams' pay full price like we have to when we go to Anfield, Old Trafford etc. and stop trying to beat the system. I don't want to watch my team when there are more away supporters than home, that would be just wrong.
