Vote For Your Latics Man of the Match v Liverpool

Vote For Your Latics Man of the Match v Liverpool

Wigan Athletic did really well yesterday to earn a 1-1 draw at Anfield against an inform Liverpool, there were some good performances all other the pitch from the Latics players as they all worked hard.

Ali Al-Habsi was steady as usual but didn`t have that much to do, with Gary Caldwell and especially Antolin Alcaraz keeping the Liverpool front two at bay for most of the afternoon.

Steve Gohouri scored the goal and at one point in the game did some sort of 'arctic role` as he literally threw his body on the line to try and block a Liverpool attack.

The midfield was solid, Ben Watson steady, James McCarthy kept Lucas quiet and Momo Diame had a good game, but for me the man of the match was Charles N`Zogbia.

He was our biggest threat going forward, had pace and directness about his game and produced a great cross into the danger area that led to Gohouri`s goal, yep Charlie for me, but who was yours?

I thought Charlie was easily the best in the first half but apart from occasional excellent `forays` he didn't seem to be nearly as `significant` in the second half. (Perhaps he was marked more; I remember seeing at least one moment when he seemed frustrated he wasn't playing as much part in the game as he wanted to.) Overall, I thought the whole team was very good and find it hard to single anyone out but perhaps Charlie wins it for me because of his first half and good bits in the second half.
