Latics CEO - Pitch is Lay and Play

Wigan Athletic CEO Jonathan Jackson says that the laying of the new playing surface at the DW Stadium should be completed by today (Sunday) and that will allow the ground staff plenty of time to ensure it`s in tip top condition for next Saturdays fixture against Manchester United.

Speaking to Latics Player, Jackson confirmed that the turf is 'lay and play` and it does exactly what it says on the tin, you can play on it immediately after it`s been laid. He also commented on the need for a decent playing surface to allow the Latics to play their style of football.

Jackson said: `The turf is called 'lay and play`, so basically you can put it down and play on it, but we`ve got a few days now to get it prepared for the United game`

'It should be in good condition`

'It`s well known that the manager likes us playing football on the deck`

'It`s important that we`ve got a good pitch to do that, if we don`t have that obviously it hinders our performance`

Lay and play, now then

I see Roberto waants the pitch re-laid so he can keep to his phylosophy which is taking us into the Championship. He wants a playing surface which allows his team to play football his way. Not sure if he realises that football his way has seen his side win three only games at the DW. Instead of giving Man U a surface to suit them he should be giving the one to stop their gallop, something like a ploughed field.
