Wigan Athletic and Honduras left back Maynor Figueroa is set to become only the fourth Latics player to complete 100 Premier League matches for the club, when he takes his place in the starting line-up for Saturdays encounter against Manchester United, Figueroa will join the other centurions, Chris Kirkland, Emmerson Boyce and Paul Scharner, ironically United are the same team he made his Latics debut against in May 2008.
Obviously very proud of his achievement, Figueroa was reminiscing when speaking to the Latics official site about his debut three years ago, to say he was thrown in at the deep end is something of an understatement, Figgy was tasked with marking Cristiano Ronaldo, a job he did manfully, and he has gone on from strength to strength since.
Speaking about that day Figueroa said: 'I remember the game well and still have the programme from that day at home as a memento of a proud day, these are memories that as a player you look back on later in life and cherish'
'I remember Manchester United needed to win the game to win the title, and I was tasked with the job of marking Cristiano Ronaldo - some introduction to the Premier League!
'But the opportunity to play against such a great player allowed me to show what I could do, it made me realise early on what kind of focus is needed at this level and is one of the reasons I've managed to play 100 games'
Looking forward to his milestone the 27 year old says that on the day the Latics can be better than their more illustrious opponents and get the three points to continue the good form that they are in. Figueroa continued: 'Overall we will go into the game believing we can be better than them on the day and get the three points for Wigan Athletic.
'After the last three league games our confidence is high and instead of worrying ourselves with league positions we're focusing instead on our own performances which has been the key.'
