Vote For Your Latics Man Of The Match v City

Vote For Your Latics Man Of The Match v City

The Latics might have lost to Man City yesterday but there were some good performances, Lopez coped well until lack of match fitness caught up with him and he had to be replaced, the centre backs were good especially Alcaraz who I thought had a great game.

A special mention must go to Ali, without his performances on occasions this season we would have a lot less points than we have now, one mistake in a game seems cruel to punish us so profoundly, but for the rest of the game he did look assured.

The midfield was busy, Diame and Watson both played really well cutting out the threat from City, whilst Moses was a danger to the city defence every time he was on the ball, but for me James McCarthy was our man of the match.

He was all over the pitch, involved in most of the Latics attacks and he was unlucky with two efforts, one he had to take first time with his unfavoured left foot and consequently it went wide, the other produced a great save from City keeper Joe Hart.

McCarthy is my choice for man of the match but who is yours, to participate in the vote simply access the poll on the right side of this page, select your option and then hit the submit button, it`s that easy.

If my vote counts, as a City fan and scribe, I'd go with McCarthy too

I thought most of the team played extremely well, and difficult to pick out just one (though I agree with others that Hugo seemed off form). I thought Alcaraz (read things well), Watson, McCarthy, Diame (some great passes) and Figueroa were all very good indeed, and Moses and Caldwell had many good moments, too. I actually picked Figueroa as he seemed to make few mistakes, helped stopped many attacks and really seemed energised when going forward and back and seemed keen play his part this time.

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
