WBA Reserves 0-0 Latics Reserves

Wigan Athletic reserves earned a point in a goalless draw away at West Bromwich Albion with Latics keeper Lee Nicholls producing a series of great saves in the final moments of the game. The England under 19 international had nothing to do all match but was forced into three great saves in the final minute.

Albion striker Kayleden Brown broke through the Latics defence before aiming toward the bottom-left corner. Nicholls did well to block the effort and then spring back up to deny the forward's follow-up, before Jordan Mustoe cleared off the line to keep the home side at bay. From the corner Nicholls produced a marvellous one handed save to tip a rasping drive from the edge of the box over the bar.

In a tight game with few chances the Latics went close when a 30 yard Daniel de Ridder free kick was heading for the bottom corner before West Brom keeper James Wood produced a good save to thwart the Dutchman.

There was plenty of endeavour from the young Latics side but they couldn`t create any clear cut chances and they were grateful for Nicholls late heroics.
