Latics Red Nosed By St. John Rigby

Wigan Athletic players teamed up with neighbouring sixth form college St. John Rigby to do their bit for Red Nose Day this Friday March 18th as the nation gets ready to dig deep into its pockets again and raise vital money for Comic Relief.

St John Rigby College students Grace Langton, Patrick Evans and Ryan Shaw won a competition to attend the nearby Latics` Christopher Park training complex and meet the players in person. The club donated a shirt which was their signed before their very eyes!!

St John Rigby is hosting many events this week, including a staff and student sitting in a bath of beans, head shaves, comic relief bingo, fancy dress and a staff versus students charity football match.

Latics player Ben Watson said: "The foreign boys thought it was a bit strange being asked to wear red noses but for the British lads, Red Nose Day is something we all know about and respect because it raises so much money for great causes around the country. Fair play to everyone, though, they all got in the spirit."

St John Rigby Learning Resource Assistant Vicky Melling, who accompanied the students and helped to organise the event, said: "thanks so much to the club and the players for being such good sports. The students have worked so hard to raise money for Comic Relief and it`s a big help when we can get a bit of celebrity support!
