Chimbonda Expected Back

Chimbonda Expected Back

Wigan Athletic manager Paul Jewell expects French international right-back Pascal Chimbonda to return to first-team training with the Latics at the end of the month.

Chimbonda has been given a few weeks off after his involvement at the World Cup with the French Squad.

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham have both made bids of around £4million for the right-back, but Wigan Athletic are sticking to their valuation of £6million.

Paul Jewell has said that he is willing to welcome Chimbonda back into the fold providing he shows a willingness to play for Latics.

Jewell said :'I've not had any contact with him while he has been at the World Cup, although I did send him a message ahead of the final wishing him good luck. He will now have a few weeks off because he has been with the France squad all summer, and he is due in on July 30. I expect him to come back with his attitude right and spot on, and if that's the case he will be considered for selection. If it's not the case, he won't be.'

Chimbo will walk into training, head bowed as he walks towards Jewell, left hand stretched out as he hands Jewell a second piece of paper, this time its the "sorry" note.

Video Highlights - Wigan Athletic 0 Nottingham Forest 0

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
