What The Bosses Said - Latics 2-1 Birmingham

Following yesterdays game between Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City both bosses have spoken to the media, lets take a look at what they said:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez:

'It was really pleasing to see that maturity of growing into the game in such a young group, it gives you a great sense of pride'

'I'm very proud of the players because we all knew how important the three points were, but what was more important is the way the they played the game.

'Because we started the game a little bit sloppy for the first 20 minutes, we allowed Birmingham an easy lead from an early set-play and we were a little bit anxious.

'But after that, the players slowly gained control of the game and in the second-half it was just chance after chance, looking at the number of corners that we had.'

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish:

"We started the game so well. When we conceded the goal, we kind of seemed to lose the plot"

"Figueroa, normally his right leg is for standing on. He threw his weight behind it and how it ended up in the net was an absolute mystery.

"But just before he scored I felt we should have had a penalty."
