'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Figueroa Dedicates Goal To New Born Son

Wigan Athletic and Honduras left back Maynor Figueroa had a smile as broad as the River Douglas following his late, late strike that won the game and gave the Latics the three points against relegation rivals Birmingham City.

With the scores at 1-1 and the game into the 92nd minute, Figueroa picked the ball up just outside the Birmingham box, controlling with his left foot and letting fly with his right the joy was there for all to see as the ball hit the back of the net.

Speaking after the game Figueroa said: 'I am very proud to have scored and especially pleased that it won the game for us.'

'The ball came to me on the edge of the area and I just hit it, I was happy to see it go in and it was a great feeling, but more importantly I'm delighted that the goal won the game for the team.'

Figueroa recently became a father for the second time, his wife is back home in Honduras where she gave birth to their son and he was proud to dedicate the goal to his family`s new addition, Figgy continued: 'I want to dedicate the goal to my sons, my father and my brothers.

'The goal and the win made the day even more memorable for me personally as a father.

'It was a great day for us and also I hope a very happy one for our fans too.

'Now we must push on and get ourselves out of the relegation zone, using this confidence to continue winning games.'

Nice one Figgy

The goal was actually pretty good, considering he is a left footed player. hope this gives you the momentum to move out of the relegation zone. Btw, how is Di Santo doing this season?
Chels_India
Di Santo hasn't scored yet but there is timehe needs to lift his confidence a bit. Figgy's goal was another superb strike.
