The Duke Believes The Latics Will Stay Up

Former Wigan Athletic marksman Nathan 'Duke` Ellington, who is now plying his trade at Lancashire neighbours Preston North End, believes the Latics have every possibility of avoiding relegation.

Speaking to the Wigan Evening Post the Duke says that he spent the best years of his career at the Latics and, along with his first club Bristol Rovers, are the ones that he looks out for.

When asked if the Latics can avoid relegation Ellington said 'it`s very possible`

Ellington said: "I have a soft spot for Wigan, of course I do"

"I spent the best years of my career there, and have some fond memories of scoring all the time, of winning the Second Division title and getting promoted to the Premier League.

"I always look out for Wigan`s results - even though all the players have changed from my time there.

"I look at all my former clubs` results, but Wigan and Bristol Rovers are the two I really concentrate on.

"It`s very possible they`ll stay up, and I hope they do."
