Lee Nicholls Heads Off To Sheffield Wednesday

Wigan Athletic young goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has joined Sheffield Wednesday on emergency loan until the end of the season, but due to the nature of the conditions of the loan deal he will still be able to play for the Latics reserves whilst still be registered as a Wednesday player.

The League One club are down to just one fit goalkeeper with their number 1, Nicky Weaver, and number 2, Arron Jameson, both out with long term injuries.

Speaking about Nicholls move Latics boss Roberto Martinez said: 'We wish Lee all the best. He is an outstanding prospect and this is going to help his development. There is nothing like being in a first team environment and hopefully he will get that with a great club like Sheffield Wednesday.'

Young, 18, big, commands his area well, good shotstopper but no experience, though definitely loads of potential, I have seen him play for the reserves and he does have something about him
