No Nigeria Debut For Victor Moses

Wigan Athletic striker Victor Moses has been left disappointed after it was revealed that red tape will prevent him from making his debut for Nigeria in their ACN game against Ethiopia on Sunday.

Due to the 20 year old having already represented England at various youth levels it was necessary for a 'change of nationality` to be completed with the governing bodies, Moses was able to do this has he hadn`t featured in any senior games for England, so the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) had sent a letter to FIFA and have been waiting for confirmation.

A reply has now been received but not with the news that was expected, it appears that FIFA want some more information, a confirmation from the English FA that Moses hasn`t played a full international and a letter from the player himself agreeing to the switch. All right and proper, but all very frustrating for the player.

Speaking on the matter Musa Amadu, the NFF acting secretary general said: 'FIFA have replied to our letter yesterday, but there are still some procedures to follow before Victor Moses will be eligible to play for Nigeria.

'FIFA requested more documentation on the player; a letter from the English FA assenting that the player only played for them in the age grade cadre and not at senior level; and a letter from the player indicating he wants to switch nationality and now wants to play for Nigeria.

'The NFF have replied supplying all the necessary information; we are doing everything necessary including involving the foreign ministry on how to quickly resolve the matter.

'But for Sunday's match against Ethiopia Victor Moses will not feature for the Super Eagles. We are doing everything possible to sort this out in a couple of days so that he will be eligible to play for Nigeria in subsequent matches.'

So frustration for Victor but at least he got to fly home and meet up with his future colleagues and get a feel for the Nigeria squad.
