Emmerson Boyce - Latics Man of the Match v Brum

Emmerson Boyce - Latics Man of the Match v Brum

Emmerson Boyce was voted the Wigan Athletic man of the match for his performance in last weekends 2-1 win over Birmingham City by pollsters on Vital Latics

Boyce, making his first start since Latics last victory against Blackburn at the beginning of February, had a superb game at right back, he defended excellently and made surging runs to support both the midfield and attack.

One such run set up Latics opening goal for Tom Cleverley, Ben Watson hit a sublime defence splitting ball, Boyce skinned his marker to get to the pass and crossed first time from the by-line, Brum keeper Ben Foster could only parry into the path of Cleverley who side-footed home, a great team goal that Boycey played a vital part in.

The winning Latics goal in the 92nd minute again saw Boyce involved in a 21 pass move that ended with Maynor Figueroa firing home in dramatic fashion.

A great team display but without doubt Emmerson Boyce stood out with a fantastic determined display on his return from injury.

For the record the voting was:

Emmerson Boyce - 56%
Ben Watson - 14%
Tom Cleverley - 8%
