Wigan Athletic midfield man Momo Diame made his debut for Senegal in the Africa Cup of Nations, they beat Cameroon 1-0 in Dakar thanks to a last minute goal from West Ham striker Demba Ba

Antolin Alcaraz and his Paraguay team mates suffered a 3-1 friendly defeat to Mexico in Oakland, California, with Manchester United striker Javier Hernández grabbing two goals for the Mexicans.

James McCarthy was a late substitute for the Republic of Ireland as they overcame FYR Macedonia 2-1 in a European Championship qualifier in Dublin

Colombia beat Ecuador 2-0 in a friendly, Hugo Rodallega had to be content with a place on the bench
