Latics Reserves 2-1 Arsenal Reserves

Wigan Athletic reserves took on Arsenal reserves this afternoon at Robin Park and finished the game 2-1 victors with two second half goals from Callum McManaman and Joe Holt.

In the Arsenal team was former Germany number one and returning Gunner Jens Lahmann, along with another returning player Jeremie Aliadiere.

Latics hit the net in the first half when Callum McManaman headed past Lehmann from a Redmond cross, but the effort was ruled out for off-side.

On 53 minutes Latics took the lead, Redmond slipped in McManaman and the young striker fired past on out rushing Lehmann.

With Latics well on top McManaman crashed a shot against the bar and then Breeze had one cleared off the line, Joe Holt made the game safe on 83 minutes when he rounded Lehmann for 2-0.

An injury time penalty that Murphy converted gave Arsenal a glimmer of hope, but that`s all it was, final score, Wigan Athletic reserves 2-1 Arsenal reserves.

Latics: Welsby; Buxton (Langley, 45), Golobart, Robinson, Mustoe; Breeze (Lambert, 85), Chow; McManaman, Redmond, Myler; Rugg (Holt, 75)

Subs: Williams, Morris

Arsenal: Lehmann, Hajrovic, Boateng, Miquel, Meade, Rees, Ebecilio, Murphy, Henderson, Freeman, Aliadiere

It's a shame that most Wigan fans don't go reserve matches because they play some real entertaining football.
