Player of the Month For March - Maynor Figueroa

Player of the Month For March - Maynor Figueroa

Wigan Athletic player of the month for March, as voted for by Vital Latics members is left back Maynor Figueroa.

The Latics played just two games during the month, a 1-0 away defeat to Manchester City and a pulsating 2-1 win over relegation rivals Birmingham City at the DW Stadium. In the Birmingham game Figueroa scored a dramatic injury time winner with a 20 yard strike with his right foot to seal the points and lift the roof off the stadium as the fans celebrated wildly.

The euphoria of that goal is still strong and without doubt it has given the players and fans alike a massive lift and a lot of hope ahead of the run-in.

For the record the voting was:

Maynor Figueroa - 81%
Ben Watson - 8%
Ali Al-Habsi - 6%

Me too, but to say he was our best player in those two games might be stretching the truth abit. However, well done figgy, bring on the spurs!

fully deserved as he has recovered from the dodgy form he was showing early on in the season.
