'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Roberto Martinez Chats With Supporters

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez spent an hour and forty minutes answering questions from supporters this afternoon, as the Latics went cyber-active and vey accessible to all sections of the clubs fan base via the CoveritLive interactive forum console.

Originally, planned for just one hour, the Gaffer enjoyed the session so much he insisted that he get through as many questions as possible before his next appointment.

Roberto answered questions on a wide and varied range of topics, some straight forward, some more challenging but the manager said this is the kind of thing we have to do to keep fans informed.

'It was a great experience because you can feel the fans there live,' said Roberto,

'They are very open and very honest in their concerns and their questions and it's a real shame sometimes because you feel limited by having to type the answers but it's a great way to get a snapshot, if you like, for what fans are thinking.

'I think it's important in a football club that the fans are heard and we do everything we can to please them.

'We share the same thing, which is the passion for our football club and everything we do is for our fans, sometimes they need to know why we are doing certain things and this just one more way that we can do that.'

The session was a great success and presented fans with a simple way to communicate with the manager, and as such will more than likely be repeated in the not too distant future. The Latics would appreciate your feedback on the session which you can submit to feedback@wiganathletic.com

Surely we must be the most open club in the land

Yeah it's pretty neat how direct the access is with the people running the club compared to others.
