Vote For Your Latics Man of the Match v Spurs

Vote For Your Latics Man of the Match v Spurs

Wigan Athletic and Tottenham Hotspur played out anything but a drab goalless draw at the DW Stadium yesterday, at times the Latics played some delightful football but once again we lacked a little in the final third.

At the back I thought that both Antolin Alcaraz and Gary Caldwell were outstanding, they played with determination to win every ball, their heading was excellent and positional play throughout the game was very good.

Both fullbacks also had good games, particularly Maynor Figueroa when you consider over the past ten days he has travelled to Dubai, South Korea, China and only arriving back in the UK on Friday.

James McCarthy and Ben Watson are playing the sitting midfield roles at the moment, but they do get forward at times, though it looks like McCarthy finds this a little restrictive he still does a valuable job in there and yesterday was no exception.

Cleverley, N`Zogbia and Moses all did well getting at Spurs and up front Hugo put himself about, but I thought Ben Watson was our stand out performer once again yesterday.

Watson covered a lot of ground, he is playing with a lot of energy at the moment and although he is playing just in front of the back four he does get involved in most of the Latics attacks, his passing was good yesterday and I thought he just about shaded Alcaraz and Caldwell for man of the match.

So Ben Watson is my choice, but who is yours?

Worbo, just cast a vote for Watson and the percentages didn't change. I did this last week and after I had voted I checked back about an hour later and all the percentages where up the shoot as Watson had gone from 38% to about 8%. I realise that other votes cast make a difference but there was one hellof swing inside 1 hour. Also every time i come onto this article Ancellotti starts wiitering on about it was a very good game. Is there any way of making sure that the video doesn't start automatically.

1) Alcaraz ... 2) McCarthy ... 3) Caldwell

I thought Watsons set pieces were below par. 7 corners and not one had a goal attempt from them. McCarthy had a good allround game and he gets my vote.

Latics v Brighton - Big Game Preview

Latics are back at the DW Stadium this afternoon following a very creditable draw on Tuesday away at Leeds, the game extending our unbeaten run to four, which must give us something of a platform to build on as the season is starting to take shape.

Brighton are flying high at the moment, currently 3rd in the Championship with just one away defeat, Newcastle at St James's Park and they have players, especially in attack, of exceptional quality at this level.
