Antolin Alcaraz - Man of the Match v Spurs




Wigan Athletic centre back Antolin Alcaraz has been voted the Latics man of the match for his performance in Saturdays goalless draw against Spurs at the DW Stadium by Vital Wigan members.

The Paraguay international was superb all afternoon and kept the Spurs front line of Jermaine Defoe, Roman Pavlyuchenko and Rafael Van der Vaart quiet, so much so that Peter Crouch replaced Defoe on 57 minutes, but the lanky England striker got no change out of Alcaraz either.

So an excellent performance from the vice-captain and well deserved man of the match award, for the record the voting was:

Antolin Alcaraz - 44%
James McCarthy - 16%
Emmerson Boyce - 9%

Watson for me too, did well intercepting and is really growing as a holding player who can distribute the ball from deeper back on the pitch.

Alcaraz was brilliant, but I thought McCarthy was outstanding especially defensively. Im going to do a little article on his performance that may have slipped under the radar.

I would have said watson if he didn't spurn every dead ball chance we get, so alcaraz gets my nod

Alcaraz played brilliant but hole the defence played brilliant. I think Boyce was the most outstanding player of the game... Moses did have a good game too

alcaraz won every one of his one on ones,it was a super performance and deserved mom.but the whole team did very well.
